We keep ours in heated parts over the colder months. Whilst we have birds that were being imported from Germany ... the German birds almost certainly came from the US so I think certainly one of the issues is The dearth of genetic variety.  The moment they get to 1 12 months of age they look do really perfectly.  Ended up not able to cope with
